Dean Silloway
Dean Silloway came to Rutland County in 1988 when he enrolled in the Business Computer Information Systems degree program at Castleton State College. He helped support the campus computer infrastructure by taking a work-study position with the Computer Support Department. In 1992 he graduated with an Associates Degree in Computer Programming and a Bachelors Degree in Business Computer Information Systems.
After graduation Dean began helping businesses in Rutland succeed in leveraging the use of their Information Technology when he became a Network Engineer for McAuliffe Office Systems. During his tenure there, he assisted many area businesses by installing and supporting their networks. After gaining a great deal of experience, he was able to demonstrate his knowledge by earning his Certified Netware Engineer (CNE) certification.
In 1995 Dean left McAuliffe to dedicate his knowledge and experience to supporting the network at Rutland Regional Medical Center as a Network Administrator. Among many other accomplishments, Dean took a lead role in implementing the Wide Area Network and Unix Server to support the information needs of the newly created Rutland Region Physicians Group.
Dean returned to servicing the information needs of small businesses in 1999 when he became a Network Engineer for Computer Alternatives in Middlebury. His knowledge was expanded when he became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and then a Hewlett-Packard Accredited Systems Engineer(ASE). It was also during this time that Dean starting providing service for many of the clients that he enjoys working with today.
Silloway Networks was formed by Dean in July of 2004 to continue to provide high-quality information technology support for businesses in Rutland, Addison, Bennington, and Windsor Counties. Dean looks forward to continuing to help area businesses meet their goals.
Chris Baker
Chris Baker has been around computers since he was 10 years old and he has been working with them ever since: playing games, building new ones, fixing old ones, and programming. He had his first computer training with a Visual Basic course as a freshman at Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington. Chris moved to Rutland and in 2003 he enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy at Stafford Technical Center. He graduated from the academy with a head full of Cisco knowledge and his Network+ certification.
Chris graduated from the Cisco Networking Academy at Stafford Technical Center in 2003 with experience in networking and his CompTia Network+ Certification. He is currently enrolled in the Information Technology Bachelor’s Degree program at Western Governor’s University. Through the program, he has earned several industry certifications including CompTia A+ and Network+, Microsoft Technology Associate: Windows Operating System Fundamentals, and the CIW Web Foundations Associate and Database Design Specialist, and plans to earn more.
Michael Forte
Michael Forte has many years of experience in technology, technical sales, project planning and management. Michael attended Northeastern University where he studied Mechanical Engineering and then later transferred to University of Massachusetts in Amherst where he studied Art History and Applied Arts. In the 1980’s as a self-employed owner of a printing business in Northampton, Mass,
Michael first became interested in computers where he wrote an estimating program for calculating material and labor costs for printing pressure sensitive decals. In 2001 Michael founded Forte Computer Services in Addison County and over the years has worked closely with Silloway Networks.
Michael’s unique quality is his ability to understand business and manufacturing processes and merge that knowledge with current technologies to help his clients be more productive.
